CHENNAI: Gone are the days when voters waited for months to get their electoral photo ID (EPIC). The digital voter ID card, launched earlier this month by the Election Commission, allows voters to download EPIC online. In the first phase, the facility will be activated for approximately 21.39 lakh voters from Tamil Nadu, whose names are entered on the final voters list.
The names of new voters, included in the 2021 Special Summary Review, conducted between November 16 and December 15 of last year, were associated with their cell phone numbers at the time of registration.
